What is outdoors at St. Nicholas Nursery...

Sensory Garden

Our sensory area in the garden is designed to engage children's senses through the exploration of herbs, a pond for investigating insects, and the soothing sounds of wind chimes. Mirrors on the walls and tuff spot trays filled with diverse sensory resources provide opportunities for hands-on learning and discovery.

Water Wall

For water play enthusiasts, our water wall is a dynamic feature using plastic tubes, funnels, water cans, buckets, and plastic bottles. Whether fixed to trellis or a wooden pallet, this interactive setup allows children of all ages to pour water down the tubes, enhancing motor skills and providing a captivating water experience. We tailor the water wall to accommodate different age groups, ensuring a safe and engaging water play area for all.

Maths Area

We seamlessly integrate mathematical concepts into the natural surroundings. Utilising elements like twigs, stones, shells, and fir cones, along with numbered plant pots, weighing scales, and muffin tins, we encourage children to explore math in a tactile and imaginative way. These open-ended resources not only foster mathematical skills but also nurture creativity and innovation.
